TRUE FRIEND was founded by Baltimore born independent film producer Emma Hannaway. She produced STRAWBERRY MANSION (directed by Albert Birney and Kentucker Audley) which had its premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was released by Music Box Films in early 2022. Most recently, she produced Olivia West Lloyd’s debut feature SOMEWHERE QUIET, which had its premiere in the US Narratives competition at the Tribeca Film Festival 2023. Emma is a 2023 fellow with The Gotham / Cannes Producers Network. Her work has been supported by the Sundance Institute, TRIBECA, Rooftop Films, The Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund, Rubys Artist Grants, the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, The San Francisco Film Festival, and Sitges International Film Festival. Other credits include NOMADLAND (dir. Chloé Zhou), THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH (dir. Joel Coen), MY FIRST FILM (dir. Zia Anger), AFTER THIS DEATH (dir. Lucio Castro), WOMEN TALKING (dir. Sarah Polley) and SHIRLEY (dir. Josephine Decker).
Emma is also a founding co-producer of the NEW/NEXT FILM FESTIVAL.
